Celebration of Life - Event Schedule

Friday, November 3

'Aha Ho'okele Wa'a Lōkahi - Unity Paddle Gathering

At 4:00 pm we gather at the pier in downtown Kailua Kona for a special paddle out to honor Loren.

The Wind & the Reckoning Screening

We begin our weekend of celebration with a special screening of David Cunningham’s movie “The Wind & the Reckoning”. The screening starts at 7:00 PM at the Aloha Cafeteria.

Sunday, November 5

Raising of the flags at the Plaza of the Nations

At 12:30 PM we gather at the Plaza of the Nations to raise the flags one month after Loren’s passing. There will be a time of worship and celebration.

Running for Grace Screening - 7 PM

We conclude our weekend of celebration with a special screening of David Cunningham’s movie “Running for Grace”. The screening starts at 7 PM at the Aloha Cafeteria.

We recommend considering arriving 30 to 45 minutes at the venues before the actual events start.


FAQ / Information around the Celebration of Life

  • What time does the celebration start?

    Doors to the Celebration of Life will open at 5:30 PM and the program will start at 6 PM on 4 November. We have planned side events for 3 November and 5 November, which you can find here (link to Schedule as below)

  • What can I expect at the Celebration of Life?

    We will come together to celebrate Loren's life. It will not be a memorial, but a time to reflect and worship God for Loren's life.

  • What other global events are planned?

    In addition to the Celebration of Life, we are hosting a global remembrance tour - if you cannot make it to Kona, you can join us at YWAM Lausanne Switzerland on 9 December and other locations in 2024. Visit our Events page here for more info and events as they are announced.

  • What is the dress code for the Celebration of Life?

    The dress code can best be described as aloha attire, meaning colorful clothing. Feel free to wear the traditional clothing of your nation.

  • Can I bring gifts?

    On behalf of the family we will offer a place at our Lōkahi center to receive potential gifts.

    During the Celebration of Life there will be an opportunity to give to our offering and we will share the details soon if you are not attending in person.

  • Can I bring guests?

    The celebration is an open invitation to our local community, the global YWAM community and friends of Loren. Everyone is welcome.

  • Will the Celebration of life be livestreamed?

    Yes, we will offer a livestream during the service.

  • Where can I stay during the Celebration of Life?
