Tribute: Pete Greig 24/7 Prayer
Heartfelt thanks today for the life of #LorenCunningham, founder of #ywam, who went to be with the Lord yesterday at the age of 88.
His faithful, humble leadership impacted literally millions of lives, including my own - in more ways than I can possibly say -
I remember weeping my way through his book ‘Is That Really You Lord?’ way back in the summer of 1999. It was a catalyst that launched me out on the roadtrip to Herrnhut that sparked @247prayer
Loren discipled my former mentor, Floyd McClung and, over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving alongside YWAMers all around the world counting many my close friends.
I’m grateful for the way Loren championed and modelled the gifts of the Spirit, decentralised leadership, women in ministry, holiness of character, Arminian theology, bold faith and above all - mission!
A few years ago Loren and Darlene kindly invited me to lunch at their home in Hawaii and he gave me a Bible. I found his intellect, his kindness and character to be even more impressive in private than in public.
One of our sons learned to surf and learned to love Jesus on a #ywamdts in Australia.
Beyond grateful
